Abstract

Broadcast Encryption
Broadcast Encryption schemes mainly deal with membership revocation problems in IP multicast or wireless networks. In order to do revocation efficiently, complex data structures need to be used. Group key distribution schemes can handle single join/leave efficiently, but in the case of multiple-user join/leave they do not perform well. In broadcast encryption schemes we limit the users to a fixed set and only focus on revoking its subsets. In short, join has been excluded. Such schemes generally perform much better in the case of multiple-user revocation, since there are less restriction on them. In this chapter, we will present various broadcast encryption schemes and analyze them. We will also provide theoretical result on them.
