The twenty-first century is an age of globalization and technological development. To improve the quality of education, humanistic literacy, and international competitiveness, various nations have promoted and listed educational reform as a focus of policy implementation. In response to the emerging trend of educational reform worldwide, educational institutions in Taiwan have promoted curricular reform policies as the means to improve national competitiveness. Since the stipulation and implementation of the grade 1-9 curriculum, the Taiwanese government has undergone educational reform for nearly 20 years. During this period, the author has been a professor in a Department of Teacher Education and the principal of an experimental elementary school affiliated with the Teacher Education University, thereby accumulating experience in curriculum counseling and leading school-based curriculum implementation. The author possesses on-site experience in directing the promotion of school-based curricula. This chapter introduces curricular implications, establishes a development model for school-based curricula, and provides suggestions for implementing school-based curricula to enhance the effectiveness of promoting schoolbased curricula.
