摘要
This article offers a brief overview of the foundational and recent literature on four research traditions within the sociology of adolescent chronic illness. First, we explore contemporary theoretical debates and empirical findings regarding socioeconomically based adolescent health disparity. Secondly, we explore recent literature on the stigmatization of adolescents with chronic health conditions. Thirdly, we examine theoretical debates and recent findings on how adolescents experience and narrate their chronic illnesses. Fourthly, as sociologists based in Taiwan, we offer a brief history of the Taiwanese tradition of qualitative sociological research on Taiwanese adolescents living with chronic illness.
