摘要
The imbalance of Taiwan's population structure in the past ten years or so has been mainly caused by such factors as a low birth rate, an extended average age of death, etc. In 2018, Taiwan's population including and over 65 years of age accounted for more than 14% of the total population, which already reached the international norm for an aging society. And it is estimated that Taiwan will become a super-aged society in 2025 with the 20% elderly population ratio criterion. However, at present (in 2022), most rural areas in Taiwan have already entered the development dilemma of a super-aged society. Taking Hengshan Township, Hsinchu County as an example, according to the demographic data of December 2021, the population including and over 65 years of age already reached 23.66% of its total population. The imbalance of population structure is one of the factors leading to the decline of the said area. This article will take the said village as a research case, and use the “art” as a medium of message passing and communication to explore how to let art intervene in the community and life of the elderly people and activate their vitality and creativity against the existing facts of population aging. Therefore, this research mainly adopts the methods of literature analysis and action design research to aim at transforming the elderly’s life experience and emotional attachment to the land into artistic expressions through the planning of curricular activities of art practice, so that the elderly may have opener minds and problem-solving skills to face the physical, psychological and environmental changes brought about by the old age. This is hoped to arouse by art their sense of happiness in the life-long learning and LOHAS. The research recommends that art infiltrates the living environment of the elderly to reproduce their value and emotional connection to the local community, and hence the environmental taste of aesthetically peaceful housing may be cultivated and sculpted. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
