Abstract

Engineering (all) Physics and Astronomy (all)
Layered organic-ferromagnetic structures are the basic units for use in organic spintronics. It is thus of great importance to ensure that the hybrid heterojunction can establish a maximal efficiency of spin injection and detection, but the encounter of an organic semiconductor with a ferromagnetic metal has sparked issues that were either not present or of least concern for heterojunctions made of only inorganic materials. In this chapter, we consider the interface-related phenomena and issues faced in this field. Employing techniques based on synchrotron radiation, the chemical states and magnetic properties of interfaces are examined from various aspects to acquire spectroscopic and microscopic insight.
