In a multicarrier transmission system, a cyclic prefix is normallyappended to the beginning of a data symbol to avoid intersymbolinterference. Meanwhile, the length of the effective channel impulseresponse must be shortened to be less than that of a cyclic prefix bya time-domain equalizer (TEQ). This paper provides a novel structurefor the TEQ in a DMT system receiver to shorten the length of theeffective channel impulse response. A time-domain equalizer, based onthe decision-feedback filter structure, along with a training methodis disclosed. Simulation results show that the proposed approachachieves higher signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) than the conventional TEQdoes.
