Abstract
This paper investigates the harmonic spectrum of the grid-connected hybrid cascaded converter (HCC) with the phase-shifted PWM (PSPWM). Detailed mathematical analysis shows that the conventional PSPWM (CPSPWM) is unable to eliminate the lower order harmonic components, which leads to severe distortion in the output waveforms. In order to solve this problem, a modified PSPWM (MPSPWM) technique is proposed in this paper. The proposed MPSPWM technique is capable of achieving better output performance while maintaining the system efficiency, and it is confirmed by the simulation results and the laboratory test results.
