This study developed an ultra-micro device for melamine quantification through measuring the lateral flow immunoassay. The device is based on a micro- spectrometer fabricated by X-ray lithography as the sensing core and integrated with components including LED, motor and lens, and the size of the device is only 1200 cm 3 . Eight different concentration of melamine samples from 0 ppb to 500 ppb were made to build the concentration model. The limit of detection (LOD) can reach 1.41 ppb in melamine quantification. By comparison with the gold standard instrument, liquid chromatography mass spectrometer (LC-MS), both methods have 95% agreement. The linear correlation between two instruments reached 0.9389. These experimental results suggest that a melamine detection device based on quantitative spectroscopy has comparable detection accuracy to LC-MS and is more convenient, rapid and inexpensive. It is well suited for use in the field of point of care.
