Abstract

Finger-shaped Hydrogen conversion rate Methanol reformer Micro-chip combustor Bioengineering Chemical Engineering (miscellaneous)
The high-temperature catalytic hydrogen micro-chip combustor with high hydrogen conversion rate is developed and applied to thermal management for methanol reformer. The micro-chip combustor is composed of one 20mm x 20mm silicon-based finger-shaped rectangular micro channel and one cover plate of boron float glass with inlet/outlet holes. The catalyst of combustor is Pt/Al2O3, which is mixed with the D.I. water and pumped into the micro channel for deposition. The best performance of the micro-combustor reached an equivalence ratio () of 0.7 that can achieve 96% hydrogen conversion rate and the temperature of the combustor reaches to 170 degrees Celsius.
