In this study, an integrated microfluidic platform integrated with field-effect transistors (FET) for achieving sensitive and automatic detection of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) was reported. With this approach, the whole operation including continuous trapping of CTCs and CTCs enumeration could be automated on a single microfluidic chip. It is the first work that an integrated microfluidic chip was reported while using FET biosensors for CTCs counting, which were captured by cancer specific aptamers. Therefore it could be a more amenable and useful tool for CTCs applications.
