Abstract
The study reports a new vortex-type micromixer which utilizes pneumatic-driven membranes to mix fluids in a mixing chamber for micro-total-analysis-systems applications. The micromixer has a three-layer structure comprising a glass substrate and a double-layer PDMS structure. The micromixer is capable of generating a vortex-type flow field to enhance mixing efficiency. A mixing efficiency as high as 95.2% can be provided in a short period of time. © 2008 CBMS.
