Abstract
In this paper, an algorithm for acyclic binary-state arc network (ABAN) reliability evaluation is suggested. The ABAN consists of a number of nodes that are binary-state capable of receiving and / or sending a signal. All arcs are just two possible states, pass or fail, and it satisfies the flow conservation law. In the past, multi-state systems have good performance with the universal generating function (UGF) technique. But, ABAN problem is not ever solved with UGF technique. However, multi-state system and binary-state system have itself use, and the compute methods are also different obviously. The ABAN reliability is defined as the probability that a signal from the source node is transmitted to each target nodes. If all of the probabilities of Minimum Paths (MPs) are determined, the last step is to calculate the exact reliability in terms of these MPs. This theorem is implemented to calculate the exact reliability. This is called inclusion-exclusion method is implemented to calculate the exact reliability. The suggested ABAN reliability evaluation method is based on universal generating function technique.
