Abstract
The multi-resolution multicast service is an emerging service for future generation communication systems, supporting different service qualities for receivers with different capabilities. Under such a scenario, the radio resource arrangement becomes very complex but is important in order to enhance the overall system throughput. For multi-resolution multicast OFDM systems, we proposed an adaptive scheme for radio resource allocation combined with the diversity mechanism. Moreover, considering the feasibility for real-time applications, the proposed scheme is simplified into a two-stage algorithm. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm achieves significant performance improvement not only in terms of the total system throughput but also for the fairness issues. © 2009 IEEE.
