Abstract

Wireless Access;Cyclic Order;Traffic Load;Mobile Terminal
In this paper, a scheme appropriate for integrated voice/data wireless access is proposed. This scheme consists of two mechanisms. One is BTMA/CA, which is used as the basic mechanism for channel access. The other is a cyclic access order mechanism used to perform dynamic priority assignment to terminals for channel access on per slot basis. The proposed scheme is characterized by its adaptability to traffic load and its fairly good multiplexing capability of speech communications. Extensive simulations have demonstrated that this scheme can achieve a high channel utilization up to 90% and a fairly high voice multiplexing gain as high as 2.04 under the 1% constraint of average voice packet drop rate.
