Abstract
The present study reports a microfluidic system for performing sample pre-treatment, nucleic acid amplification and optical detection for a molecular diagnosis. The entire process including virus lysis, extraction of ribonucleic acid (RNA), reverse transcription (RT), polymerase chain reaction (PCR), and optical detection were successfully integrated into the micro-fluidic system, which can automatically perform the rapid diagnosis and subtyping of influenza virus. Experimental results demonstrated that the developed system can successfully distinguish seasonal influenza A/H1 and influenza A/H3 within 140 min. It may be promising for fast detection of novel and seasonal influenza in the near future.
