Biased FeTaC(N) soft underlayers for perpendicular media

Abstract

The application of FeTaCN films, prepared by using reactive sputtering, for soft underlayers of perpendicular media was studied. It was found that the corresponding interfacial coupling energy of FeTaCN/CoSm is 0.27 erg/cm 2 . The results showed that high saturation moment, low coercivity and high resistivity could be obtained by incorporating N into FeTaC films.
