This paper reports a new method of flow control utilizing bubbles. Bubble generation within 1 s by laser-assisted evaporation and valve function were demonstrated. A bubble of 10 2 fL was generated in a nanochannel with more than 10 mW laser and stopped the fluid flow at 50 kPa. Our method will be widely applicable for chemical processes in micro/nanofluidic devices.
