This paper surveys the blackout accident in Taiwan power grid on March 3, 2022 (303 blackout). This power outage results in the lost power supply of about 10.5 GW which is equivalent to one-third of the daily electricity demand of the entire Taiwan power system. This failure causes approximately 5.49 million households across Taiwan to experience power outages. The restoration efforts and failure of this grid failure are highlighted in this paper. The sequence of the cascaded blackout event will be elaborated first. The root cause of the blackout accident is comprehensively investigated. Meanwhile, the lesson learn from the blackout accident is summarized. Some associated reinforcement strategies for grid resilience are also recommended.
