Abstract
Flows within sudden expanding pipes are simulated with variants of explicit algebraic stress models. The predicted axial velocity results indicate that the linear k - ε model shows a more diffusive profile. The explicit algebraic stress model do show a better anisotropic stress field and a reasonable development of the shear layer. Among the explicit algebraic stress models, the Speziale et al.'s formulation shows the best results, where the mean and turbulence quantities are correctly predicted. © ECCOMAS.
