Abstract
The magnetic, and x ray-absorption near edge structure (XANES) data of Ca 1-x Sr x RuO 3 system were analyzed to investigate its spin-glass-like behavior and its correlation with structural distortion. In the system the short range magnetic correlation of ferromagnetic double-exchange interaction was investigated for x ≤0.25 and long range for x≥0.25. From x-ray absorption data it was found that the weaker double-exchange coupling strength J de in the Ca-rich regime was closely related with stronger RuO 6 tilting and distortion. The results show that anomalous spin glass behavior of the system was due to the distortion with weaker Ru-O hybridization.
