Abstract
Web-based instruction (WBI) has been applied in both academic and practitioner fields for the past few years with the advanced invention of communication technology and has become a trend for learning. For the past five years, many design guidelines of WBI systems have been discussed. However, there are conflictions among those guidelines and they have not been tested by empirical studies to clarify their usability. Due to this reason, it is difficult to determine whether these guidelines are useful and what circumstance can be used for WBI. The current study aims to understand WBI learners' perspectives toward the interface design of the systems by conducting surveys and interviews. Design guidelines will be first reviewed. The researchers will then design questionnaire to collect data from the experienced users of WBI systems. The study helps to reexamine the design principles and interface design issues from users' perspective for on-line learning systems.
