Abstract

Capillary Hybrid-type restrictor Hydrostatic bearing Pressure sensing restrictor Mechanical Engineering History
This paper is aimed to design a hybrid-type restrictor for hydrostatic bearings. The hybrid-type restrictor, which combines a capillary restrictor with a pressure-sensing restrictor, possesses the characteristics of relatively low flow resistance and large manufacturing tolerance. In addition, it is more reliable than the pressure-sensing restrictor, while having higher stiffness than the capillary restrictor. In this work, we first established the interrelated theory of the hybrid-type restrictor installed within the hydrostatic bearing. Secondly, we derived the equations that govern the dimensionless stiffness and the oil-film thickness of bearings. Having known how to define the parameters of the hybrid-type restrictor according to the theory, we developed a design method of the hybrid-type restrictor. As a result, with the appropriate adjustment parameters, we can improve the performance and have the property of easy manufacture.
