Abstract

fluorescence spectroscopy lactoferrin micro spectrometer Computer Science Applications Electrical and Electronic Engineering Control and Optimization Instrumentation
This paper reports on the development of a portable measurement system for UV-stimulated fluorescence spectroscopy. The system was designed to provide rapid and accurate measurements of the fluorescence response of samples that have been stimulated by a UV-LED at a wavelength of 295 nm. To achieve this, a miniature spectral chip was integrated into the system. The chip contained a slit, grating, and mirror, which enabled efficient dispersion and detection of the fluorescence signal. The accuracy of the system was validated by detecting the fluorescence of terbium-chelated lactoferrin, a biomarker associated with dry eye syndrome. The results demonstrated that the system could accurately quantify lactoferrin concentrations with a coefficient of variation close to 10%, indicating high precision and reproducibility. The portable and compact measurement system makes it an attractive tool for on-site analysis and monitoring of various samples. It is also noteworthy that the system was able to provide accurate results despite being a relatively low-cost alternative to traditional fluorescence spectroscopy instruments.
