Abstract
We developed surface-modified TiO 2 nanopillars in extended nanochannels (10-1,000 nm) on a chip for the formation of nano-droplets. Water and n-hexadecane were successfully introduced into the channels containing nanipillars, and hydrophobic enhancement induced by nanopillars was confirmed. The results showed that liquid flow can be controlled by surface tension, which is important for the effective handling of nano-droplets.
