Abstract

The dynamic pulse evolution to the steady state in a passively mode-locked Ti:sapphire laser with intracavity saturable dye absorber is examined. This class of lasers is of interest because it is self-starting, robust, and can produce stable, sub-100 fs pulses. The present study reveals the role of various mode-locking mechanisms a a given stage of pulse evolution.
