In this study, a self-developed artery vessel simulator is made to simulate an artery vessel inside an organ by casting a PDMS hollow-cylinder with a 4-mm through-depth hole. Intermittently pumping water into the hollow-cylinder to simulate the blood flow through the vessel. Water flows through the through-depth hole and interacts with the cast PDMS structure to introduce varied pressure on the inner surface and caused the PDMS structure vibrating, the associated deformation and strain are then analyzed by adopting the stereo-digital image correlation method. The pumping behavior is verified by comparing with the radial artery vessel mechanical behaviors of a young volunteer objective, the comparison indicates the proposed artery simulator can be considered as a usable design according to current performance. In addition, the study also concludes that the artery vessels might be more easily identified by using strain filed rather than the displacement filed.
