Abstract
Fatigue behavior of carbon fiber reinforced polyetheretherketone (PEEK) laminated composite [±45] 4S was studied. The [±45] 4S AS-4/PEEK composite laminate under static loading and tension-tension fatigue loading tests were conducted at various levels of stress amplitude to study the effect of stress amplitude on the fatigue behavior. Two fatigue frequencies, 10 Hz and 1 Hz, were selected to study the effect of frequency on the fatigue behavior of [±45] 4S AS-4/PEEK laminate. The effect of fatigue damage process on the specimen surface temperature change during fatigue test was investigated. The fatigue damage mechanism of [±45] 4S AS-4/PEEK laminate was also studied. The Weibull distribution function was used to analyze the fatigue life distribution. The S-N curves for a series of cyclic loadings at different survival probabilities were also presented.
