Abstract

Droplet Mass spectrometry Microfluidics Nanofluidics Bioengineering Chemical Engineering (miscellaneous)
We designed and fabricated micro/nano droplet shooter devices that achieved 700 fL droplet shooting at 24 kHz exploiting laminar air flows for realizing 100% sample injection into mass spectrometry. It is a novel concept of digitizing a chromatograph by shooting sample droplets. The generated droplet diameter and the sample channel size were found to be in a linear relationship. Therefore, by further miniaturizing the shooter, the droplet miniaturization will be realized. This study will provide a great foothold for establishing single cell protein separation analysis which is important in biology and medicine.
