Abstract

aquaculture pathogens;Loop-mediated-isothermal-amplification;microfluidics

Detection of fish pathogens is crucial for premium aquaculture species with a high economic value. The current study therefore presents a new microfluidic system for detection of aquaculture pathogens. Pathogen DNA was first purified by using specific nucleotide probes, followed by amplifying pathogen-specific DNA fragments by adopting the loop-mediated-isothermal-amplification (LAMP) process. Furthermore, it can carry out four LAMP reactions for multiple detection of pathogens. Successful demonstration for detection of aquaculture fish pathogens has been achieved by using the proposed microfluidic system. © 2011 IEEE.
