The purpose of this study is to facilitate students to improve writing textual cohesion on a game-based writing environment. The participants included 113 third-grade students from a lower middle-class elementary school in Taiwan. The experimental group used a game-based writing platform in contrast to the control group who used a pure writing platform. Both of these platforms built according to RCTR model which could help students overcome writing difficulties. Further, the game-based writing platform provided management game and peer interaction mechanism. The preliminary results showed experimental group students performed better than control group students on textual cohesion. We speculated on the reasons: game-based platform strengthened students engagement and peer interaction.
