Abstract

Photosensor using silicon nanocrystals layer sandwiched between two electrodes with capacitance structure is first time proposed to integrate with ambient-light photo-sensing application on LTPS-LCD panels. Sensing ambient light in LTPS panel intelligently reduces power consumption through backlight control and also simplifies module complexity by integrating with ambient-light sensor directly into LCD panel. Si-nanocrystals photosensor shows high optical-sensitivity in visible photo-response region for wide ambient-light illumination, can be integrated compatibly and flexibly in LTPS with only one additional post-annealing manufacturing process.
