Abstract
Current biomedical sensing processes vastly rely on antigen-antibody based detection processes, which have limitations in point-of-care applications. Recently, an artificial antibody, aptamer, has emerging as a promising candidate for diagnosis, which could be screened from a process called systematic evolution of ligands by exponential enrichment (SELEX). In this study, we have developed a new, automated, miniaturized SELEX platform for screening of affinity reagents towards protein biomarkers for cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). As a demonstration, we reported for the first time a complete 'on-chip process to screen aptamers for targeting N-terminal pro b-type natriuretic peptide (NT-pro BNP)' on an integrated microfluidic system.
