Abstract

In-vitro fertilization Integrated microfluidic device Oocyte Chemistry (all) Bioengineering Chemical Engineering (miscellaneous) Control and Systems Engineering
This paper proposes an integrated microfluidic sperm sorting and oocyte incubation system for high efficient in-vitro fertilization application. The device consists of a high-quality sperm sorter and an oocytes zona-removal incubation device interconnected on a 3D IVF chip for promoting the successful rate and the efficiency of In-vitro fertilization (IVF). The chip can select high portion of high-quality sperms and carry out zona-free process gently simultaneously in thirty minutes. Experiment results showed this chip not only provides an easier and faster procedure to sort out motile sperms and better preserves the viability of zona-free oocytes, but also increases the attachment rate of sperms on oocytes for enhancing fertilization.
