Abstract
Droplet microfluidics allows for the confinement and manipulation of small volumes of liquids, and has been increasingly utilized for the screening of encapsulated cells and biomolecules. Here we proposed to sort the droplet based on its dielectrophoretic properties, which could be altered by the differences in size, number, and/or compositions of particles encapsulated. This method is simple, label-free, and eliminates the need of the detection component and feedback circuits, and thus reduces the complexity and the cost of device fabrication and operation.
