Abstract

In a switch-mode dc-to-dc converter system, we present a control scheme that will achieve the transfer of the maximum available power from a non-ideal voltage source. Monitoring the rates of change in both the average input current and the average input power from the source for every sampling period, the proposed control method can dynamically regulate the dc-to-dc converter system to track the peak power of the source. In addition, the central-limit current distribution control for a parallel-connected converter system is incorporated in this control scheme so that system efficiency and reliability is improved by uniformly distributing the total output current among the converters connected in parallel.
