Abstract

Multi-walled carbon nanotubes MWCNT Nanocomposite Reinforce
In the present work, poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTPVDF) are prepared through the ozone-mediated process. PVDF/MWCNT-PVDF nanocomposites loaded with different amounts of MWCNT-PVDF are prepared. Functionalization of PVDF increases the compatibility between MWCNTs and PVDF matrix. The mechanical properties of the PVDF/MWCNT-PVDF nanocomposites are studied. MWCNT-PVDF is found to play interesting roles in the PVDF/MWCNT-PVDF nanocomposites. It acts as a reinforcing agent for PVDF nanocomposites at high loadings, and in contrast as a toughing agent at very low loadings.
