Abstract
This paper presents a surface modification technique to modify a plastic into a superhydrophobic and highly transparent surface by a sub-20 nm surface nanopatterning technique. A COC plastic was modified into a superhydrophobic and highly transparent surface after nanoimprinting sub-20 nm nanotips. In this work, the COC plastic surface has been successfully modified from the native contact angle of 90° into a superhydrophobic surface with a contact angle of 155°. And the optical transmittance of the COC chip has been increased from 90% to 94% in the visible wavelength range. © 2009 CBMS.
