Abstract

Multicarrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) is one of the promising techniques for fourth-generation wireless mobile communication systems. In MC-CDMA uplink systems, the code orthogonality is destroyed and a multiuser detector is usually required for the receiver. By placing an antenna array at the base station and employing antenna diversity reception, we can enhance the system performance appropriately; however, due to possible erroneous estimates of multiple access interference, the antenna diversity gain may be lost and this would degrade the system performance. In this paper, we present a diversity-refined multiuser detector for multirate MC-CDMA uplink systems. Computer simulation results show that the proposed receiver structure outperforms other similar approaches.
