Abstract

A frequency independent optoelectronic microwave phase shifter with operating frequency up to 20 GHz is demonstrated. The merits of the present approach are: intrinsic compatibility with fiber-optic distribution networks; shifting the phase of microwave signals using an offset-DC-voltage controlled low-frequency electronic PLL circuits; and ultrawide bandwidth up to THz is feasible with the development of shorter laser pulses and faster photoconductive switches.
