Abstract
The radio frequency indentification (RFID) technology is one type of automatic identification and data capture (AIDC) system. In order to enhance the operation efficiency and data entry accuracy, enterprises have been dedicated in evaluating applications of the RFID technology in production flow and shop-floor control, logistics management and merchandise tracking, and supply chain management. In this paper, an empirical study was carried out to reveal the characteristics of the distribution and marketingchannels of the printing industry. The business operation requirements and RFID acceptance of distinct roles in the printing supply chain are also analyzed. The printing supply chain is classified into six fundamental models and RFID application scenario for the six models are also provided. Quantitative analysis of costs for RFID applications in different logistics activities is also accomplished in order to provide useful reference information for enterprises to evaluate the RFID implementation in the supply chain.
