Abstract
In search of a more efficient and accurate acoustic power evaluation method, a new technique based on the nearfield holography method was developed. Both numerical and experimental investigations were performed on a baffled piston. Several parameters involved in this technique were discussed, and their effect on the accuracy of the power evaluation was tested. As an independent experimental verification, an ANSI S1.35-1979 pressure-based method and a two-microphone sound intensity method were used to measure the same source power. Good agreement among the results from three methods was observed.
