Abstract

Animal study Dosimetry Measurements Monte Carlo simulation Quality assurance Modeling and Simulation
The Monte Carlo simulation for the transport of electrons, photons, and protons through phantoms or patients has been implemented in both research and clinical studies in Chang Gung University and Chang Gung Memorial Hospital. There are many on-going Monte Carlo-based projects covering pre-clinical, clinical, and quality assurance studies, such as: (1) On-line patient dose verification using EPID and Monte Carlo simulation. (2) The detector response against small field beams. (3) Effect of tissue heterogeneity for photon/electron/proton therapy. (4) Animal irradiators of MV photons, kV photons, and MeV electrons. (5) Dose enhancement due to nano-particles against kV photons. (6) Microdosimetry and nanodosimetry. (7) CT spectrum, dosimetry, and reconstruction. Also, these studies cover all the three major fields including radiation therapy, radiation diagnosis, and nuclear medicine. We hope that this brief demonstration of our Monte Carlo applications in CGU/CGMH can invite suggestions, opinions, and any potential opportunity of cooperation from Asian Monte Carlo society.
