Abstract
This paper examines the idea of sound field reproduction (SFR) inspired by the Nearfield Acoustic Holography using Equivalent Source Method (ESM) and its related interpolation method. Multi-channel inverse filtering with regularization using Truncated Singular Value Decomposition (TSVD) regularization is exploited to deal with the ill-posedness problem. Headwind Detection (HD) is employed to reduce the error caused by the opposite traveling wave against the desired sound field. The Golden Section Search and Parabolic Interpolation (GSS-PI) is utilized to search for an optimized Retreat Distance (RD), which is useful during a real recording process with a limited number of microphones. A potential use of the proposed techniques is field interpolation in the context of upmix processing. Simulation and subjective listening test were undertaken using broadband stimuli.
