We demonstrate line-by-line pulse shaping control on both a mode-locked laser and a phase modulated CW laser. Independent manipulation of individual spectral lines leads to synthesis of user-specified ultrafast optical waveforms with unprecedented frequency resolution. © 2006 Optical Society of America.
