Abstract
Notification system (NS) is a system which provides extra information when users are performing their tasks. In the past, the researches of notification systems always emphasize the objective factors (e.g., performance promotion) but rarely the subjective factors (e.g., human emotions). This study investigates the interaction of emotions, interrupting effects and working performance in notification systems. We find that positive emotions can effectively speed up the recovery to the primary task. It reveals that emotions have good effects on switch among tasks, and indirectly confirms that emotions can improve the working performance.
