Abstract

We show that the transmission distance is limited by the trade-off between the cyclic prefix and signal bandwidth for a direct-detected optical OFDM system. The maximum transmission distance with different QAM sizes and subcarrier numbers are also discussed. ©2008 Optical Society of America.
