Abstract
Transparent and monolithic, cholesterol imprinted (CHO-ICPS)-TEOS derieved hybrid MIP were synthesized using sol-gel process. The monomer-template complex (CHO-ICPS) was prepared by the reaction of 3-isocyanato propyltriethoxysilane (ICPS) with cholesterol (CHO) in tetrahydrofuran. It was found that the protection of surface hydroxyl groups with trimethyl silyl groups increased the hydrophobic nature of MIPs and prevented the non-specific adsorption of templates. The results show that organiv-inorganic hybrid MIPs can be effectively utilized as a stationary phase of column chromatography and also for biosensor applications.
