Abstract
The advantage of Fe-Pd based ferromagnetic shape memory alloys is good ductility. In the present work we study the transformation and magnetic properties of Fe 70 -Pd 30-X In X melt-spun ribbons. The phase formation is examined using X-ray diffraction and Mössbauer spectroscopy from 550K to 4K. By adding a small amount of Indium we succeeded to shift the transformation temperatures above room temperature. Furthermore, Mössbauer spectroscopy confirmed the transformational reversibility for Fe 70 Pd 29.5 In 0.5 ribbons avoiding non-thermoelastic bct transition when cooling down to 4K and heating back above austenite transformation temperature.
