Abstract
Unbalanced is a multisensory VR experience that invites participants into the daily life of a working mother juggling childcare, housework, and career demands. The experience articulates the emotional and physical strain of gendered domestic labor through a VR environment that integrates visual and auditory cues with haptic feedback delivered via a responsive baby model. It simulates constant interruptions and rapid attention shifts that reveal the tension between care, domestic duties, and professional roles. Validated in educational and exhibition contexts, Unbalanced shows how immersive technologies can spark awareness and reflection. Beyond storytelling, it renders care work tangible and opens a perceptual gateway to empathy and cultural reflection.
