Abstract

Alloy nanoparticle Microcondenser Microheater Micromixer
a new microfluidic reaction system capable of mixing, sample transportation and reaction is developed for synthesis of alloy magnetic nanoparticles. It allows for a rapid and cost-effective approach to accelerate the synthesis of the nanoparticles. The system integrated a micro-mixer/micro-pump, a micro-condenser, micro-valves, micro-heaters, and a micro temperature sensor to form a new microfluidic reactor. Successful synthesis of FeGa 2 O 4 nanoparticles with varying sizes has been demonstrated. The development of the microfluidic reaction system could be promising for synthesis of functional nanoparticles for future biomedical applications. © 2009 IEEE.
